Andy's Voiceover
"When you've crashed and burned, you might wonder, "How did I get here?" But that part doesn't really matter. What matters is what you do next. Will you let it overwhelm you? Or will you rise? Surviving a crash, clawing your way out of the wreckage, it makes you stronger. It changes your perspective and opens you up to brand new possibilities."

Vic in this episode

The crew is sitting together eating when Maya brings up Station 23 and that Vic can give her insight on them because she had something going with Mayhorn. Ripley hears it and is all ears and wonders about it. Vic says that it was nothing and over a month ago. Later, Travis finds her and asks her if she wants to get married. She explains that marriage isn't everyone's endgame and that he should live in the now. She also says that sometimes some things happen too soon too fast. She looks at Ripley as she says that. Later, she finds Ripley in the Captain's office and he gives her an update on the storm and brings up Mayhorn. Vic wants to say something but Captain Herrera interrupts them, telling her to find Travis and meet him in the Beanery. She looks for him and finds him just as he comes out of the turnout room with Grant. Vic is proud of herself because she made them do it there. When they enter the Beanery, Pruitt is upset with them because they are not helping Jack who obviously needs it. When they sit down to confront Jack about it later, Jack blows up and tells them all that they should look at themselves and their problems before pointing fingers at him. He almost reveals Vic's secret but before he can, Ripley come into the room and tells them about Andy and Sullivan. The team rescues them just in time. It's 4 months later, Vic and Ripley are out on a date in a diner. She is missing Andy's celebration but doesn't mind. Ripley tells her that he enjoys the time with her outside of the bedroom and wants more of it in the future. Vic deflects and suggest to get the check. They end up making out in his jeep. It gets hot and heavy until the manager of the diner knocks on the window and tells them to stop what they are doing. Vic and Ripley laugh about it before kissing again.

Quotes from this episode

Vic: But, Bishop, you made Lieutenant. Savor it. Fall into the warm embrace of these mashed potatoes.
Maya: I made Lieutenant at Station 23. The people there are...
Ben: The worst.
Travis: Meatheads.
Dean: Unshowered.
Maya: Thanks, guys. Thanks. Thanks a lot.
Dean: They are.
Maya: I mean, you have actual knowledge about 23. Dish, please.
Vic: Nothing to dish.
Maya: You were seeing what's-his-name over there.
Travis: Oh, um --
Dean: Mayhorn! Mayhorn.
Travis: Mayhorn.
Vic: Okay.
Ripley: You were seeing Mayhorn?
Vic: "Seeing" is a strong word. I saw him once.
Maya: Thought you said it was three times.
Ripley: Oh. All right.
Vic: You know what? It was a month or so ago, and it was nothing. Not...that there's any reason for any of you to need that information. Never mind.
Maya: Me. I need information. Mayhorn likes 23, right? I mean, tell me all the reasons he likes 23.
Vic: I'm sorry. I got nothing. Where's Gibson? He's gonna want a drumstick.
Vic: Poor Herrera, stuck on Aid Car duty and missing out on all this confectionery glory.
Travis: Do you... want to get married?
Vic: To you?
Travis: Or ever? I mean, are yu pro-marriage or anti-marriage? Is being anti-marriage even a real thing?
Vic: Marriage isn't everyone's endgame.
Travis: Yeah, see, I don't -- I don't get that. Being married to Michael was great. Why wouldn't... Grant want that?
Vic: Well, there is such a thing as too much too soon. Relax. Live in the now. Forget about the later.
Vic: Hey. The, uh, team's looking for an update.
Ripley: HQ's working to get the reception back up. The wind's still 85 miles per hour. The calls are prioritized so we know exactly which to hit first.
Vic: Okay. Thanks... for the update.
Ripley: So, uh...Mayhorn, huh?
Vic: Oka--
Pruitt: Hughes? There you are.
Vic: So, I'll be sure to disseminate that info to the team, Chief.
Vic: Pruitt wants to see us in the Beanery.
Travis: Would you like to -- to get a seat at Reception?
Grant: Yeah. I'll do that.
Travis: What did Pruitt want to see us about?
Vic: No clue. But he probably doesn't want to see man-bits. Zip up.
Travis: Sorry, I was -- We were --
Vic: Oh. No. No, I connected those dots.
Travis: But I was trying to talk to him, and then you got into my head about living in the now, and the now that I wanted to live in was less about talking and more about --
Vic: Man-bits! I got it. All good.
Travis: Not all good! We needed to talk.
Vic: But instead, you had hotty hot spur-of-the-moment sexy time because of me. So you're welcome.
Ripley: I feel bad you're missing out on Herrera's celebration.
Vic: Don't. I love stale bagels and lukewarm coffee.
Ripley: Yeah. It's nice. Being out. In public. With you. Not having to worry about running into anyone.
Vic: It's kinda hot, right?
Ripley: You realize it's our second time here.
Vic: Hm.
Ripley: Is this, uh... is this our place now?
Vic: Our place?
Ripley: Can we say we have a place?
Vic: You know, I thought my bed was our place, since that's where we spend most of our time together.
Ripley: And I very much enjoy that time. But I also enjoy this time. And maybe... maybe we can have more of this time in the future. What do you think?
Vic: I think... we should get the check.
Manager: Excuse me. Uh, whatever it is you're doing in there, please don't.
Vic: Sorry. It --
Ripley: It was not -- It's not what it --
Vic: Okay.
Ripley: I think we ruined our place.
Vic: Mm-hmm. Totally.
